It may be surprising but dental jewellery is not an invention of modern age. Among others, proof has been found that people living in the ancient Egypt chose to decorate their teeth, this being probably a symbol of their richness.
Dental jewellery is very popular nowadays; nevertheless it is worth having a clear picture of some aspects before perfecting our smile in this way. Dental jewellery can be applied of course only by a dentist, and exclusively on healthy teeth. Dental jewellery cannot be applied in case of teeth with plaque, caries or irregularities, thus our teeth have to be checked by our dentist first. Most dentists agree on the fact that beautiful, healthy teeth should not be damaged by drilling, thus today in most cases dental jewellery is applied on the teeth with medical adhesives, without drilling. Thanks to this, the dental jewellery can be easily removed without leaving lesions on the tooth surface.
